Exclusive #holoSerendipity Unit Interview: IRyS & Bae

We interviewed each performing unit of the upcoming hololive English 4th Concert -Serendipity-!

Thank you for your time today! In case there are any new fans reading, could you introduce yourselves and share a bit about your channel?

IRyS: “HiRyS, iiiit’s IRyS from hololive English -Promise-! I am (probably) the embodiment of HOPE, a seiso half angel – half demon nephilim here to bring hope to the world through song!! I also play a lot of games and do karaoke on my channel and enjoy yapping about anime and manga!”

Bae: “WAZZUP! My name is Chaos…The End of Ends! Your worldwide Idol Rat – Hakos Baelz from hololive English -Promise-! WITNESS ME!!! I am just a little rat who loves to sing and dance, hoping to bring a smile to your day!”

The upcoming hololive 4th Concert -Serendipity- is just around the corner, and you must be busy! What part of concert preparation have you been enjoying the most so far?

IRyS: “I love learning the songs and slowly working toward a complete performance of the songs I will showcase at the concert! I especially love practicing and learning songs that I sing with other people as I get to discover the synergy my voice can have with the others!”

Bae: “Busy as ever! With any performance, I love putting the process of putting the performances together! Practicing the songs, practicing and learning choreography – although the process is grueling, it’s a lot of fun and I just know that it will all pay off on stage.”

How have the rehearsals for the show been going? Have you faced any memorable challenges along the way?

IRyS: “One of the songs I have upcoming for the show is very fast paced and has a decent amount of tongue-twister parts which came to be a bit of a challenge for me while rehearsing!”

Bae: “Everything hurts LOL! I have gained a lot of new bruises this time around… I wonder what caused them?….”

We’d love to hear the first impressions you had of your unit partner! What did you think when you first met her?

IRyS: “I remember thinking Bae was a super genki and energetic rat that had endless energy! Her extroverted energy she gave off in the beginning honestly made me feel intimidated at first (only in the very beginning) but she is a sweet person that definitely makes me laugh even in hard times!”

Bae: “The first time I met IRyS… to be honest I was blown away by her voice. I was so in awe of her I was a little intimidated but she was the very first senpai I had ever met so I was so eager to get to know her and become her friend. Don’t tell her I said that.”

So far, we’ve had 3 concerts for hololive English overseas. Thinking back, what is your earliest memory on a project together with your unit partner? How did you feel when working together?

IRyS: “I have very bad memory so I can’t quite remember what my first project with Bae was, but working with her is always so reassuring! She always has a strong vision when it comes to most projects that if I am ever being indecisive or wishy-washy, I can always turn to her opinion to get things straight!”

Bae: “I honestly don’t remember the first project that I did with IRyS – we’ve worked on so much together! I remember all our early collab streams that were so much fun. There were also our cover songs that also were so much fun… I just have a lot of fun whenever I work with IRyS!”

What is the trait about your unit partner that you really admire and why?

IRyS: “I definitely admire her creativity! She always comes up with ideas for things that I wouldn’t even think of and I find that amazing! I really wish I had the same brain as her sometimes.”

Bae: “I really admire her easy-going nature and natural humor. Although she calls herself
introverted, she has this natural humor and attraction to her that makes everyone around her laugh and feel comfortable.”

How would you describe your unit dynamic to someone who is new to hololive English?

IRyS: “We are basically a can of worms lol”

Bae: “Complicated XD”

What are you looking forward to the most, coming together as a unit? Do you share any goals for your performance?

IRyS: “I hope our performance turns into a memorable scene in the concert and we make a strong impression on everyone there to watch!!!”

Bae: “This will be the first time performing with IRyS on any stage with just the two of us. I hope that our performance will bring an elevated level of BaeRys-ness for all the fans who have loved and supported us since the beginning.”

So, without spoiling the show, do you have any hints you can share about the performance?

IRyS: “It’s gonna be a really cool performance ;)”

Bae: “Hmmm… love.”

IRyS: “Let’s have 2 amazing days at the concert together!!! It’s gonna be A GREAT TIME!”
